#1: What is the difference between IPL and SHR?

Many patients tend to get SHR (Super Hair Removal) treatment confused with another popular laser treatment, IPL hair removal treatment. Although both treatments work with light energy to destroy hair follicles – there are distinct differences between the two that yields different results. The most notable difference is that SHR is safe to use on all skin types, while IPL isn’t recommended for those with darker skin. While SHR treatment is considered to be a safe treatment that is well-tolerated – there is still the risk of burns, redness and discoloration for some patients – although the likelihood is very low when done with experienced professionals.

#3: Is it a must to go through the entire treatment plan?

Many customers often make the mistake of not completing their treatment plan, and this can be detrimental to their results. While SHR is built to be a semi-permanent hair removal treatment – it still needs several sessions spaced at appropriate times in order to achieve long-lasting results.

Because the treatment is still highly dependent on the individual’s specific hair growth cycle, you want to make sure that each session is focused towards the hairs that are currently in the growth phase. After each treatment, your hair is expected to fall out within the next 3 weeks, and it is during this period where many customers are tempted to stop coming back.

On average, you will need around 6 – 8 treatments to start seeing noticeable results, as every session is expected to target only 20% – 30% of the hair follicles.

Especially for the ladies, hair growth is primarily caused by hormonal changes – which means that it is still possible for your hair to grow back. However, this can be easily solved by coming back for maintenance treatments every once or twice a year.
